How We Work
Project Sourcing and Evaluation
We find projects from producers, lawyers, accountants, post-production houses and other industry sources – and at all stages of origination, pre- and post production. All relevant documents including the script, finance plan, schedule, budget, tax rebate eligibility, producer track record, completion bonding and insurance are all scrutinised to ensure relevance, accuracy and reliability.
Project Confirmation and Funding
British Film Institute Interim certificate, accountant tax review and certifying letter, Certificate of Origins and all relevant production and financing agreements. All funding documents executed. All production monies advanced (inc. equity, pre-sales and tax credit loans) to production company
Project Monitoring and Completion
Production tracked at all stages to ensure successful completion and delivery, including weekly and monthly cash and budget reports, updated schedules, rushes and production site/edit facility visits.
Project successfully delivered to distributors/broadcasters and any due payments collected. Accounts and tax calculations completed and sent to HMRC. All loans repaid.

Our Team

Matthew Higdon
Legal
After a Master’s degree in intellectual property law, Matt started his career as a finance lawyer at Clifford Chance. He went on to found M Law LLP in 2003 to focus on media law and from there the firm expanded to encompass technology, sport and film.
He has a particular interest in the structured finance of IP assets and over the past two decades has represented major media organisations, sports organisations, tech companies and film/TV entities.
Clients include Charlton FC, Hand Made Films, Honda F1, Jiva Maya, Lovefilm.com, Novel Entertainment, Qi, Arts Alliance Ventures, IKEA, Red Dwarf, Sunderland FC, Hinduja, AFP, Hachette Filipacchi and Spandau Ballet.

William Campbell
Production and Distribution
William has over thirty-five years of experience in multimedia production and distribution. As head of video and TV at Virgin and then joint MD at Lifetime Productions, he commissioned or produced over a hundred lifestyle and sports programmes for video and DVD and was involved in many TV productions.
Since 2005, he has been developing and producing Apps, TV programmes and feature films and his last film, Tango One – based on the best-selling book by Stephen Leather – was distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures. In 2023 he completed the production of ‘Lucky!’ – a multi-million pound, 8-part series on the history of Formula 1 with Bernie Ecclestone, directed by BAFTA-winning Manish Pandey.
Currently, he has four feature films and two TV series in various stage of development .

Matthew Clarke
Finance
Matthew Clarke trained and practised as an international finance lawyer at Linklaters from 1988-1996 working in London, New York and Hong Kong.
From 1996-2001 he was a director at the merchant bank Robert Fleming & Co. Limited and at JP Morgan Chase, specialising in equity and debt capital raisings including IPOs.
In 2002 he established Merlin Partners LLP, an FCA regulated corporate finance firm which has raised in excess of £2 billion of capital for a variety of disruptive businesses.
Matthew was a founder of Clear Bank and has been an advisor to the founders of Oxbury Bank and Balance.
He has sat on the boards of many businesses including being Chairman of the AIM listed Mediterranean Oil and Gas plc.
